Meeting Safely
- Always meet in a public, well-lit place for your first few dates.
- Tell a friend or family member where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to return.
- Arrange your own transportation to and from the meeting point. Do not rely on your date for a ride.
- Stay sober and alert. Avoid excessive alcohol or substances on first meetings.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave immediately.
- Video call before meeting in person to verify the person matches their profile.
- Keep your phone charged and accessible at all times.
Online Safety
- Never share your home address, workplace address, or daily routine with someone you have not met.
- Use Lushme messaging instead of giving out your personal phone number early on.
- Be cautious with financial information. Never send money to someone you have met online.
- Use a strong, unique password for your Lushme account and enable two-factor authentication.
- Be wary of anyone who pressures you to move the conversation off the app quickly.
- Do not click suspicious links sent in messages.
Reporting Users
- Tap the three-dot menu on any profile or conversation to report a user.
- Select the reason for your report from the available categories.
- Reports are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team within 24 hours.
- You can report harassment, fake profiles, scams, inappropriate content, underage users, and threatening behavior.
- All reports are confidential. The reported user will not know who filed the report.
- Providing detailed information helps us take faster action.
Blocking
- You can block any user at any time from their profile or your conversation.
- Blocked users cannot see your profile, send you messages, or interact with you in any way.
- Blocking is immediate and permanent unless you choose to unblock.
- You can manage your blocked users list in Settings > Privacy & Safety.
- If you feel unsafe, block first and report second.
Emergency Resources
- If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number right away.
- In Turkey, dial 112 for emergency services (police, ambulance, fire).
- In the US, dial 911. In the EU, dial 112. In the UK, dial 999.
- National Domestic Violence Hotline (US): 1-800-799-7233
- Turkey Women's Emergency Hotline: 183
- Save emergency numbers in your phone before going on a date.
- If you cannot speak, many emergency services accept text messages.
Red Flags to Watch For
- Refusing to video call or meet in person after extended conversation.
- Requesting money, gifts, or financial information for any reason.
- Pressuring you to share intimate photos or personal details quickly.
- Becoming angry or aggressive when you set boundaries.
- Inconsistent stories about their life, job, or background.
- Love-bombing: excessive flattery and declarations of love very early on.
- Isolating you from friends or discouraging you from telling others about the relationship.
- Insisting on controlling where you meet, what you do, or who you talk to.
Photo Safety
- Avoid sharing photos that reveal your home, workplace, or frequented locations.
- Be mindful of identifiable landmarks, street signs, or license plates in your photos.
- Do not share intimate or explicit photos with people you have not met in person.
- Remember that screenshots can be taken of any image you send.
- Use Lushme's built-in photo sharing rather than external links when possible.
- Report any user who pressures you for inappropriate photos.
